Here are my questions: 1. Can you still "upgrade" a valid Pass to a higher pass (like an AP)? If so - I will purchase the 4 or 5 day passes thru our Credit Union - use our EE; then upgrade. 2. Do you get AP Discounts (Room; Meal; etc.) with a Dlx AP? There's no point in getting a Premium (or even the Dlx with Parking) since we'd always have a local Hotel/Motel Room, and we don't even seem to be down on the REAL busy days or Saturdays. 3. Since DCA is always less crowded than DL - is it better to process the AP in DCA? TIA! Stew

Originally Posted By MomofPrincess I have no idea bout processing in DCA. I guess I just assumed you had to do it in DL! Hmmm... Yes, you get a 10% discount on food with your deluxe pass, and you can get at least 10% off hotel rooms at the DL Resort (sometimes better--I got a room at DLH for $89 this past January). Oh, and sorry, no idea on your first question, either...

We went to process in on a Saturday this past January, but the line was too long early in the morning. We went back around lunchtime, and the line was even longer--at least an hour's wait. It got progressively longer through the course of the day! My advice would be to do it first thing in the morning, no matter what. Get it out of the way!

As for rooms, you'll have to check on that one. I didn't know you COULD process an AP in California Adventure. I guess I never bothered to check. But by all means, if you can, go for it.

Yes, you can upgrade from a ParkHopper to an AP, so long as the AP is higher in price than the AP. Also they know if you got a discount, so you have to pay the full difference (some employers do have slightly discounted AP prices, basically the same price as an renewal price). But yes, you can but the ParkHopper, use the EE and then upgrade to an AP. 2. Do you get AP Discounts (Room; Meal; etc.) with a Dlx AP? OK, here are the basic AP discounts... ALL AP's get the same hotel deal, the basic one which is 10% off rack rate (not good), or the much more heavily discounted rates on slower dates. Check MouseSavers.com for the current deals.... For food discounts in the parks and the hotels. ALL AP's other than a Premium get 10% off, Premium's get 15% off... (ODV carts and Quick Service locations do not offer discounts). In Downtown Disney, ALL AP's get 10% off MOST locations, some locations do not offer it... For Merchandise, only the Premium AP's get 10% off in the parks, all other AP's get nothing 3. Since DCA is always less crowded than DL - is it better to process the AP in DCA? DCA does not offer AP processing, your ONLY choice for a first time AP is to go to the Bank of Main Street in Town Square, next to the Opera House/50th Anniversary exhibit in Disneyland.
