I experienced Fantasmic twice using the new Fast Pass system. Once using the dining option and once using the regular Fast Pass. I had reservations at River Belle Terrace. I got the rosemary chicken in lemon thyme sauce and the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. It was very good. I was offered a choice of which show I wanted my Fast Pass for and opted for the earlier show. We were to enter at the Harbour Galley and they kept very organized. It worked very well and I ended up front and center. On my last day, I tried the regular Fast Pass. I wanted the second show this time but went to the machines fairly early to find out approximately when the second show would be available. They initially told me to try back in an hour and a half but it turned out to be a slow day and it took three more trips before I was finally able to get the later show. Maybe they should give you the option of choosing the show you want. For the regular Fast Pass you line up in Frontierland. This line was less organized but the did a decent job of keeping people from lining up early. My spot was almost as good as the one with the dining option. I happened to be waiting with some women who were DL regular but had never seen Fantasmic and didn’t even know what it was. I’m sure how that could be but they said they weren’t in the parks late often. I told them they would love it and they did. Also I passed through the area during the earlier show that night during Mickey’s battle with the dragon. There were some kids watching the show chanting “Go Mickey, go Mickey!” It was really cute.

Throughout the week I visited almost all the princesses. I’m going to WDW next year with my two favorite little girls, the daughters of one of my best friends from collage. They are five and two. I videoed each princess saying “hi” to them and saying how much looked forward to meeting them next year. It was lots of fun and I’m told the little girls loved the videos and have watched them over and over. Later in the week I was talking to some people at Mickey and the Magical Map and told them about this. They had no idea the princesses would do videos and their minds were blown. This group was actually really fun. One of them was a huge fan of Mickey and the Magical Map and he and his companion were going to see every show that day. Another one was on his second performance that day because he had a crush on one of the performers he had seen earlier in the week. Unfortunately he appeared to off that day. We all watched the show together right on the front row.

On Monday, I took the Cultivating the Magic Tour. The guide and the tour were great. We rode on The Jungle Cruise and The Storybook Land Canal Boats with special spiels. And, oddly, we rode the Haunted Mansion. At the end we got a special pin and forget-me-not seeds.

I experienced all the Frozen activities. I planned ahead and managed to be second in line for Anna and Elsa and got their video. I was done five minutes after park opening. I saw For the First Time in Forever twice, once the very show not needing a Fast Pass and once later in the day and had no difficulty getting a Fast Pass for it. I spent a few minutes at Olaf’s Snow Fest and saw him but opted not to meet him. At DL I also saw the Frozen show at the Royal Theater twice. You do need Fast Passes for it but I had no difficulty getting them. It was all fun.

On Thursday I was able to attend the Pass Holder exclusive preview of the Tomorrowland sneak peak. It was almost all new material and looks really good. We also got a pin.

On one of my rides on the Tower of Terror there was a little girl I think about seven who did not want to ride. Her family made her and they ended up in my elevator. At the end she was sobbing. Despicable. A day at Disneyland is supposed to be fun. Why would you force your child to do something they were terrified of?

I got to meet iamsally and her husband. They were lovely and we had a nice though short visit. While talking with them another lady joined in and I ended up talking to her for an hour after they left.

The main reason for the timing of my trip was to go to Great Moments With Mr Lincoln on the 150th anniversary of his assassination. You can read about my experience there in my post on the DL General Board entitled Extra Disney Magic.

It was a great trip and I had the added bonus of missing some very nasty weather at home. I’ll be heading back to experience the 60th this summer or fall.
