They talk about a lot more than the latest reality TV show, naughty basketball player or Hollywood divorce.

Check out BBC.com for all sorts of information on the French riots that have been going on for over 10 days now.

And yes, several cars and buildings have been torched in Marne-le-valle near Disneyland Paris.

Would there be any reason for us to even consider cancelling our trip? Our plans are to stay in a Rue Cler hotel, visiting mostly Paris sites. Outside the central city we'll (of course) go to DLP, plus hopefully Versailles. For our 2-day driving tour, we'll stay in a hotel in Beauvais, then drive to Normandy (D-Day sites) and to the Loire Valley. Should we worry? Fortunately, our trip isn't until March! Hopefully things will be better by then. (Note: my wife's worries had me changing our planned trip to Spain last year, after the Madrid bombing.)

    Rioting Threatens France's Tourism Image
    Nov 07 7:42 PM US/Eastern

Violence shaking the suburbs of French cities is threatening the country's carefully cultivated image as one of the world's favored travel destinations.

The list of foreign governments urging tourists to exercise caution in France is growing, with Australia, Austria, Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Denmark, Slovakia and the Czech Republic on Monday joining the United States, Russia and Hungary in issuing warnings to avoid riot-hit areas, especially at night. None are advising travelers to avoid France altogether _ at least, not yet.

"I thought about it a lot before leaving for Paris," Belgian traveler Susan Lecurieux said Monday as she boarded a train from Brussels to the French capital. "But no, I'm not scared."

German travel agency TUI AG said the riots have drawn questions from customers. "We have received a couple of inquiries from people traveling to Paris who want to know the exact location of their hotel," said TUI spokesman Kuzey Esener.
