It would be a disappointment if it were true. I had purchased a digital camera 3 years ago so I could take my own pictures at Walt Disney World and other places.

Due to the nature of the Belle meet & greet, and its long lines, they are trying to move guests through more efficiently. They seem to believe that taking a photo only with a PhotoPass photographer using their own camera will speed this process along. From the sounds of things, you may be able to have a family member stand next to the PhotoPass photographer with their own camera, but I wouldn't count on it. From all reports, PhotoPass photographers at other locations will still take a picture with your camera if you ask.

I believe taking photos of the screen displaying your on-ride photo has always been officially discouraged, so they may be doing something about it now. There was some discussion of active enforcement of this at Knott's Berry Farm, however, I haven't heard of any cases where this has actually happened in WDW. They would prefer you buy the actual photo, but photos of the screens are usually so crummy that I don't think they're really losing out on much potential revenue
