Have we really become THIS paranoid?Do we now accept comedy routines and urban legends as factual?I'm just glad I won't be around to see the Y3K panic.

I feel that to go through a number of points and assert what exactly is and isn't evil is not necessarily a very strong basis upon which to form this argument, as it really is entirely subjective.

<<<No matter how talented, skillful, loyal, ethical, or hard-working you are, it isn’t evil for a corporation to reject you - by not hiring you or by laying you off - even if it is because of your ethnicity, weight, sex, or whatever. (Okay, this part of the point is arguable, because one could argue that corporations are morally obligated to follow the law, and many countries have laws against such discrimination.) >>>

In this portion of the column for example, I really have to respectfully disagree with you because I'm fairly certain that where I lie on this matter is that it IS INDEED 'evil' to, for instance, fire someone solely on the basis of race--despite what the law dictates. Maybe I am just misinterpreting this one specific point, but my overall problem here is that it's difficult for any one person to decide what exactly EVIL constitutes.

That being said, I'm still a fan of the column (as I've been for a long while) and feel that you often make some very interesting points, and most importantly, shed an intelligent and often new light on a lot of these issues. I just wanted to throw out some of my thoughts...
