I don't suppose there's much chance of the new ride being up before we get there in November either....

I tend to agree with that. On the other hand, I think Back to the Future was by far the best simulator around -- way ahead of the Disney ones.

The large, curving Omnimax screen tended to distort the image too much for me, plus the film was WAY too grainy, even back in the early 90s. But, I too, also agree with TDLFAN that simulator films should be updated about every 5-7 years.

It's a well themed ride, but unfortunately the movie is fairly pedestrian and the movement of the vehicles is absolutely absurd (not to mention quite painful).

Those guests who were on front rows or towards either end of the auditorium, were able to get an unobstructed view of other ride seats. To me, that made it a less than believable experience.
At least, on simulators like Star Tours, StormRider and the ever wonderful systems used on such shows like Vegas' Star Trek Experience, everyone got an immersive experience that was not compromised by seating location. That alone, made the Disney simulators better.

...And let's face it. The motion of the B@TF seats was often times NOT in sych with the action on the screen. The FL version in particular is the worst one of them three out there, as the seats rocked hard back and forth, obtaining thrills from breaking your neck; NOT from a good simulation show from a technical point of view.

At least the USH and USJ versions are a bit smoother and less violent than USF's version.
