Plus mosquitos love me and I had no bites. We didn't really realize what was going on until our last day. We reported it to hotel management who of course said it was mosquitos. We said no, it was bedbugs and they denied that it could be. We did not see any bugs, but from what I know this is usually the case. They come out when it is dark and you are asleep. When the lights are on they keep hidden. It is possible these bites weren't caused by bedbugs, but chances are they were. Bedbugs can be at any hotel, even the nicest. This thread isn't to scare you away from the CCI, only to alert you. If you are staying at any hotel and suddenly have bug bites and haven't seen any mosquitos, it could very well be bedbugs. Request a room change immediately.

The gentleman assured me that this was untrue and was not sure why someone would post that. It sort of sounded like I was not the only person that had called this morning, or he had already seen or heard about this thread. Anyways, my hubby and I are still discussing whether to change or reservation or leave it as is.

Also, would anyone recommend getting a hotel near Universal Studios or just staying in Anaheim and coming back to the hotel after a day spent at Universal?

As I said, this could happen at any hotel, I read on another forum that a guest had bedbugs at the Grand Californian in May. It's just a problem that can happen when travelling. I would still stay at CCI, but check out the room when you get there. I've read that you can check the mattress and sheets for reddish brown smears and look behind the bedboard and under the mattress. If you see anything, request a room change.

We are still discussing whether to stay there or not. I realize that this can happen anywhere, but the thought of little bugs crawling over me while I sleep (and the chance of bringing them home) is just freakin' me out! Has anyone else had problem there? I called my mom and she said that my aunt & uncle just stayed there within the past 30 days so I am going to email them and ask if they had any problems. LOL..I think I'm off to clorox my own sheets today and vacuum the mattress just for the heck of it!

Like the refrig. not working or the room smelling yucky is my reasons for changing rooms. If they do have any bedbugs then I am sure they will do something pronto since it's not a good thing to be talked about on a forum where so many people will be reading it.

If you see black specks that could be bedbug feces. I know, ewwwwww..... As if the cockroaches and ants weren't scary enough on my DL vacation. Maybe I'll just bring my own bug bomb next time

Originally Posted By RoadTrip <<the thought of little bugs crawling over me while I sleep (and the chance of bringing them home) is just freakin' me out!>> Don't worry too much about it. You have little bugs crawling over you every night while you sleep anyway -- dust mites which are in ALL beds. The difference with bedbugs is the little suckers nip you. There is too much to worry about in life without worrying about crummy little bugs. If I got nipped, I'd ask for a new room. But I'm not going to waste my precious vacation time scouring a hotel room looking for bugs. We really have become a phobic society, haven't we?
Originally Posted By ADisneyPrincess <<so what and where do I look for bed bugs, on the mattress, sides, where at exactly.>> This is what a poster said another forum about this: "Gross but they have a redish poop (from the blood they suck), and you'll find it on the mattress, espeically on the edges and folds of the edges of the mattress. It's like red/brown smears. Also look for the redish color on lamp shades, curtins, and behind the head board. The bugs are small but they will look flat, and if they've been eating they have a plump look to them. They are a brownish/red color as well. And hide in all the places I've mentioned. So if they have bed bugs, you'll either see the bugs themselves in these places, or their "markings"."

Not at all, I think that is what the person at the hotel was trying to imply, to protect their reputation. Personally, I would have been far happier had they just acknowledged that it probably was bed bugs and apologized for it. I hate when businesses deny things that they know are true.
