Best/Nearest Beach to WDW?

    Cocoa is the closest but not the best. For the "best" beaches I actually recommend the west coast of Florida. The drive time isn't too much different if you go over to St. Petersburg.

    The nice thing about Cocoa Beach is that it is right by the Kennedy Space Center. If you have any interest in seeing that you get a twofer by heading east.

    Cocoa Beach is probably your best bet, but I highly recommend Clearwater Beach on the West coast, it's about 90 minutes away but well worth the drive. Beautiful white sand beaches and as for the water, they don't just call the town "Clearwater" for the fun of it. It's a really cool drive too, when you take the bridge over from Tampa.

    The one thing I noticed though is the beaches Ive been to on the Gulf side have small shells as "sand" wheras the Coast side beaches have sand... No idea if its true for all...

    The beaches near wdw are ok. My favorite beach is about 3 hrs but its spectacular. Marco Island. We like the Marriot there. It is wonderful for kids.
