My kids are part fish so we decided against it this summer as a substitute for DLH or HoJo's.

    Here is a marked map

And if you show up in June or later, the new Anaheim GardenWalk will be open and you can walk thru the mall to get to the park.

We have mom, dad and 4 kids so it is big enough for us. Plus they have a kitchen area type thing with a fridge, stove, sink, microwave and cupboards. We really liked this as we bring food with us. The only thing I didn't like about Park Vue is they don't have a hot tub. But it is right by the cross walk and nice short walk. The only bad thing about Portofino is the longer walk. They also don't have any kind of continental breakfast, but we usually take cereal and stuff with us anyway. It depends on what is most important to you on this trip. If you want to be closer I would say Park Vue, if you don't mind walking then Portofino is a good choice. I think Park Vue has cheaper rates than Portofino.

We walked to and from the Park with 5 children (2 in a sit-n-stand) with no problem. I had gotten a REALLY good rate that year, but have yet to find anything that comes close since. If you want a much smaller "mini-suite" AND great proximity, then Fairfield Inn is a great choice, IMO.

That being said, I stayed at HOJOs last week and walked to the park every day except one - we had to get stuff at Target and since we were already in the car, I decided to park at M&F. I did not like the hassle. I MUCH prefer to stay close and walk.

Is there a shuttle from the Embassy Suites South to Disneyland?

If you will have a car I say ditch the ART and drive to the garage. The cost will be about the same and you won't waste time waiting for the ART busses, which IIRC only come by every 20 minutes, and stop running shortly after the DL closes.

I guess it depends on what you define as a suite and if it will fit your needs.

but hey it is the closest hotel to DL on Harbor Blvd.

If you stay at the Portofino be aware that there is a lot of noise from the hallway - kids running up and down, doors slamming etc., but ask for a 3rd floor room in the building across from the lobby, cause you can see the fireworks from there.
My kids and I walked to and from the park every day....even when we were very tired, and it still was not bad at all. The ART transit is also very dependable and stops right outside the hotel.
Like I said, the Portofino was very affordable, and I liked the option of the kids in their own room.
