I happen to think Carl Hiaasen is hilarious, but he's not to everyone's taste. His book "Team Rodent" is a rant about WDW and Disney's influence on Florida politics:

If you really want to feel like you're there, you can always try reading a novel. I recommend "The Kingdom Keepers" by Ridley Pearson, in which it's up to five Orlando teens to save the world from Disney villains coming to life:

I also really enjoyed Cory Doctorow's novel, "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom," in which the central conflict is over a Haunted Mansion refurb in the distant future. Should they maintain the audio-animatronics, or just beam the experience directly into the guests' brains?

This is a pretty good discussion about the history and ongoing relationship between WDW and the State of Florida, Counties of Orange and Osceola and the City of Orlando.

It isn't a "tourism" book...but if you like business type information this is a good one.

I do! I was glad to oblige. I know it has been frustrating to a lot of people that Issue 1 is sold out and that we are not planning a reprint at this stage.

BTW, the second edition of "Queens in the Kingdom" was released this week. [I almost said it "came out," but that would just be silly. :)]

I'm not exactly part of the target audience, either, but I started skimming it, and it's pretty fun. Besides, they plug Compass Books on page 141, so they can't be all bad. :)
