The color is absolutely stunning, a vivid blue-violet (you must see it in daytime). I read that they're painted, but the color is amazing nonetheless. I'll post a photo as soon as I can get one from my dear friend who photo'd for me.

(BTW they don't *look* painted at all)

I can see both sides of this one - "painting" living plants to match the decor seems a bit strange, especially given the disney-angled backstory about "painting the roses red". Or the even older phase of "gilding the lily". There's a sense of flying in the face of god.

At the same time, plants don't get much more pedestrian and banal than poinsettias - and they're already something of a frankenstein plant to begin with, genetically manipulated to within an inch of their lives.

So why not blue? Or teal? Or even glow-in-the-dark plaid? And maybe they can even make them smell like popcorn!

Horticultural sites say they are dyed, injected or painted... maybe all three
another said Gordon Wong, of Meadowlands Horticultural cultivated a blue, called "Blue Star", another page says "even if, technically, the plant was not really a natural, true blue but an ingenious paint-dye job."
    Uh-huh...

Noticed Ecke, Master of Poinsettias, does not do blue

Someone told me Disney has their own nurseries?
