Anyways Its a long new road almost connecting to the freeway and has a bunch of new Raddison Resort buildings coming up, some already open. Does anyone know how or what exactly this is all about? I've heard nothing about it anywhere execpt from what I've seen the last two trips to WDW when I physically saw it?

Bonnet Creek is a non-Disney resort that exists "on Disney property," or at least it "looks" like it's Disney property -- but it's not.

Way back when Walt bought up his big rectangle of land in central Florida there was this one mutant square of land in the middle on the east side bordering on I-4 that he was never able to buy. It was owned by someone who refused to sell to Disney, at any price.

For the longest time the land just laid there. They finally sold it off -- for a hefty price, I'm sure -- but not to Disney. The Bonnett Creek Resort is now going up there.

Bonnett Creek had to get legal access rights to their own property through Disney's access roads.

Now it's another resort, "on Disney property" that has nothing to do with Disney. Though I'm guessing guests who stay there may even not appreciate that distinction. At least the Swan and Dolphin "look Disney." Bonnett Creek does not.

The entrance area alone is all these concrete-colored forms. Quite visually jarring to me.

Take a look at these pictures -- I found the Bonnet Creek Resort road signage difference to be quite different, and wondered why.

Nothing special best sums it up -- now if someone really put up a luxury resort there-- they could have pushed the envelope a bit -- but $130 with taxes for a 1 bedroom and none of the transportation advantages etc. -- no EMH --
    no big deal

May be, but to me they add to the enjoyment of removing myself from the outside world. Even though we very seldom take the busses anymore, since we only stay on-site infrequently, and it's more difficult to leave a car somewhere and take the bus.

I wish they were all monorails or light rail --- but for buses they're OK -- the air works and in summer in Florida what more can one want ?
