The 16-page publication prepared by Commissioner Brent Rinehart's re-election campaign lampoons gays and criticizes Rinehart's political opponents. It also features an angel who supports the embattled commissioner and Satan, who supports his critics. "It's more or less a story of my experiences of the last four years of being the county commissioner of District 2," Rinehart told The Oklahoman, which obtained the comic on Wednesday. Toga-wearing gays, political figures, trench coat-clad henchmen, concerned residents and Rinehart make up the rest of the comic's characters. In one sequence, Satan says: "If I can get the kids to believe homosexuality is normal!" The angel replies: "Hey Satan, not with Brent around you won't!" ____________ The comic (in all of it's awesomeness): http://downloads.newsok.com/do...toon.pdf

But the cream of the crop (and there's a LOT to choose from in this howler!) is Satan hoping for rivals Maughn or Johnson to win, with the Asexual Angel of Goodness saying: "THEY ARE POLITICAL OPPURTUNISTS." Subtle, sly and yet revealing. I can't explain the man (?) woman (?) with the bird-like beak hat. But mad props to the cartunist for all those blocks of reversed-out white on black type. You know how long it takes to do that by hand? Damn. The Sistine Chapel was painted faster.

Digging a little deeper, this means that he's the incumbent county commissioner, facing a primary fight against at least two opponents (who he names). County commissioner, at least in most states (I can't claim a lot of knowledge on Oklahoma) is normally a job where the incumbent doesn't face a primary fight at all - the Rep. or Dem. machine of the county normally just backs the incumbent, unless there's a pretty good reason not to. Hmmmm. Also noticed plenty of misspellings ("your" for "you're," "to" for "too" and others), but perhaps this is a conscious attempt to appeal to the people this clown considers his base? Also, notice the figure holding the sign saying "We're Here, we're queer get use (sic) to it." The sign is so large you can't see the face, but check the outfit. You can't fool me. That's Peter Pan! Those of you closer to DL will have to ask Peter next time you go on his ride why he's siding with Satan.
Originally Posted By Kar2oonMan LOL! I saw that Peter Pan hidden behind the sign. I love this art! The inbred children defending Mr. Rine(hart) is great, too. "We like him! He paved the track at our school!" Yes, so that the little children apparently could chase Frankenstein around the track at recess. Well, whatever gets kids exercising, I guess... And remember.... Brent ask's to many questions!

I'm not sure that calling Hercules gay is a particularly wise idea... -Jeff

Yeah, I saw that too...it was kind of sandwiched in-between everything else. It's kind of like slipping your report card in with some other random things for your parents to sign, hoping they wouldn't notice and just sign it all! The art is kind of funny in a Mike Judge kind of way. It's funny how he portrays regular people though. I wonder if he was going after that "King of the Hill" look...standing by a fence in overalls & stuff.
