We spent most of the time in the observatory car and had a some good times snacking, joking, and playing some cards until it was time to TRY to get some sleep for the night. It's hard to sleep on the train in coach, so it was a long night for us all. But before we knew it, the sun was up and we were arriving at Fullerton Station just over an hour late. (Not bad for the train) Being a group of nine, all together, we got a cab that was a 15 passenger van and headed to pick up our rental cars real close to Disneyland. It was exciting to see the parks, but they will have to wait because our first couple days will be spent in Newport Beach. We got our rentals and headed over to Knott's Berry Farm to eat breakfast at Mrs. Knott's. We had a great breakfast (Fried chicken and eggs) after a long night and then went to our Newport hotel. It's a nice place (Radisson). The wife and most kids wanted to nap, but my oldest son and I aren't real good "day sleepers" so we decided to text my brother and nieces and see if they wanted to head to the pool. They were "in" so we headed down and while the kids swam, my brother and I laid out and soaked up the sun and the atmosphere. We decided to order a couple drinks and let "vacation mode" fully set in. The rest of the family joined us after a while. After a couple drinks poolside we were ready for dinner and went for a quick In N Out dinner, got some beer at the store (more affordable than ordering from the bar) and came back and went straight back out to the pool. This time the adults were at the hot tub and the kids were in the pool. That's how we ended our evening out by the pool. We're showering now and ready for a good night's sleep. Tomorrow we'll hit the beach and enjoy the ocean. Excited and thankful for this time.
