I also remember my dad calling me over to one side of the monorail to see the "Popsicle Trees" (as I call them) at the Contemporary that are trimmed to look like someone pulled them out of a styrofoam cup and stuck them upside down in the ground 0 you know the ones I'm talking about.

We had been to Disneyland 6 years before, and wanted to get a better lay of the park before journeying through it. However, we discovered that you really couldn't see much of the park from the Railroad (which is still true today!). In 1975, about all of the park you could see was some of Frontierland (no Big Thunder or Splash Mountains then), and the journey consisted of mainly traveling through a thick forest of trees. There was no Toontown Fair station, so the next real glimpse of the park wasn't until Tomorrowland as Fantasyland was well hidden then. Space Mountain was brand new then, and of course much fanfare was trumpeted on the live spiel about it as we passed.

Our first major ride after the Railroad was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It was a great E-ticket start to a wonderful first trip to WDW. Alas, too bad that ride is gone as it was our first real taste of the Magic Kingdom!

Although I think I'd say my real first ride was on the ferry from the TTC to the MK. I'd waited so long to finally be able to go to Disney World and coming in on the ferry and seeing the Magic Kingdom as we were approaching was spectacular. I burst into tears I was so excited. That was my first real Disney moment.

Although my husband and son would like to hide when I start singing. LOL We are going to make that ride my parents very first one as well as this will be their fist trip to the world in December. Can't wait!!!

What really burns in my mind though is taking the monorail and after clearing the TTC, my mom turning me to look out the windown where Cinderella Castle suddenly appeared. It was dusk in July and the sky was a pinkish-purple. Truly magical.

I think the first ride was If you had Wings. I sorta remember that we managed to get to everything that was there then.
