ORDDU: Normally we just fly our broomsticks over the park berms and avoid the usual methods used by others to enter the parks. But today we decided to ride the parking lot tram instead ORWEN: Boy do we ever regret it, too! We were the last group to get on the Epcot tram when there was an annoucement made for a final boarding call. ORDDU: The tram seemed ready to pull away when--at the very last minute--these two women decided to rush onto the tram while holding a little girl that must have been two years old. ORWEN: One woman was older--like maybe a gradma--while the other one was younger--like maybe in her mid twenties. ORDDU: There was a man sitting behind us who couldn't help exclaiming, "Really, ladies? You're going to risk getting yourselves killed like that just because you couldn't wait for the next tram?" ORWEN: That's when the young 20 something turned and asked, "Did you say something to us?" ORDDU: "Yeah," the man replied, "Just wondered why you couldn't wait for the next tram." ORWEN: "Well, we're on THIS tram now!" the young woman retorted angrily. "Is that okay with you? Or are you going to make us get off?" ORDDU: "Just forget about it, lady," the man replied. ORWEN: For a few moments it seemed as though the heated argument had died down. Then the young woman, who was still holding onto her two year old, turned around and said, "You know I really don't appreciated what you said back there! Did you really have to say anything at all?" ORRDU: To which the man said, "Forget it! It's all over with now. Just have yourself a nice day!" ORWEN: "No!" the young girl replied angrily. "I want to know why you couldn't just keep your mouth shut to begin with?" ORDDU: "Oh, I see how you are," the man responded with equal venom. "You're one of those people who thinks the whole world revolves around you! Everybody has to wait for you! Anyway, just let it drop!" ORWEN: But the young woman wasn't going to let it drop. She kept on yelling back at the man, anyway, and it continued for the rest of the ride up until the tram stopped to unload everybody. Then as we all got off, the young woman and her mother met up with a friend of theirs and decided to LOUDLY describe what had just happened to them on the tram saying a rude, fat man decided to open his mouth and complain to them! ORDDU: By this time we were just hoping this wasn't going to be a bad omen for what might lie ahead for the rest of our day at Epcot. ORWEN: So, that's why we have to ask, Can't guests just get along? ORGOCH: Think that's bad? Just come ta our place in Morva fer a day an' yer gonna' see some REAL fightin'!!!!

But we found this hard to believe, since those speakers are so loud and she and her mother actually started racing towards the tram right after the announcement had been made so we're pretty sure that both women heard it. They just wanted to be given the benefit of the doubt. They also expected everybody to just ignore their rule breaking. This is common, of course, since we see this sort of thing happening all the time.

I guess I try to be nonconfrontational (especially when I'm supposed to be relaxing on vacation), but I seldom talk to strangers for the sole purpose of criticizing them; it rarely works out in your favor. It's been years since I've ridden on WDW's trams, but at DL they have a small army of CM's standing in the loading area to ensure that people don't try to hop on at the last second; the doors that they added a couple years ago also seemed to help cut down on this. Since the trams in WDW still go through the parking lots and stop in multiple locations, I'm not sure if that's a practical solution, but it's something to think about

ORWEN: We've been in siutations where other guests would yell out to the 'deaf guests' and try to also tell them to get behind the yellow line. Only then do these guests seem to react as if they have been told to do something and usually they react with anger--as if to say, "Hey! Don't tell ME what to do!"

I haven't been to WDW as many times as DL, but I will say that the guests there are somewhat less enchanted by the "magic" and behave just like the tourists that they are. And I'm not using the word tourist in a nice way. DLP tops them all for the most impolite guests, though.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros While I've seen much less outright entitled behavior (like making the entire tram wait for you) at DLR, I would say that the average is much worse there. With the combination of tourists on their once-in-a-lifetime vacation and the locals who think they own the place and should have free reign of it (with hell to pay when anything goes wrong), there is a lot of not so great guest behavior However the extremes I've seen at WDW are definitely worse; that said, the average there is usually much better. There are enough people who realize that it's a special place for everybody, and do their best to be accommodating. Yes, they may stop in the middle of the walkway to look at a park map, but that's a pretty small offence all things considered
Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt All of that is true, but in my experience DLR has never felt like it was full of pushy tourists the way that WDW does, though. When a family flies in from out of town, rents a car, pays for a room, buys a park hopper plus ticket and so on, it tends to make them feel that their investment of time and money gives them a sense of entititlement

Just happened over Memeorial Day Weekend whilst at the Tragic Kingdom. ORWEN: Sure did! While we were sitting around an outdoor table outside Hall of the Presidents, this young man started yelling at his girlfriend for letting herself get separated from him. ORDDU: It was so embarrassing and humiliating for the poor teenaged girl. Her boyfriend came across as being more than a little insecure. ORWEN: "I just KNEW this was gonna' happen!" He told her in an angry tone. "You even told me you'd make sure it didn't happen--but it DID happen! You walked away from me! I just spent the last two hours trying to find you--after you said you wouldn't let it happen again like you did before!" ORDDU: The girl tried to appologize but nothing she could say would quiet her boyfriend's anger. "I didn't even want to come here today!" He pointed out to her as she sat on a bench looking totally wilted. "You were the one who talked me into coming here! The last thing I wanted to do was spend half the day trying to track you down! And you've got a cell phone, too! Why didn't you call me or answer when I tried to call you? Were you off with somebody else? Were you having a good time with somebody you met here today?" ORWEN: It was embarrassing to have to listen to this soap opera while trying to enjoy a little snack. I mean, what would all the presidents inside Hall of the Presidents say if they knew this kind of argument was taking place right outside their domain? ORDDU: At one point the girl finally got up and left her boyfriend. He continued to fume as she left--demanding that she come right back where she'd been. But she kept on walking away. "I told you to come back here!" he raged at her. ORGOCH: Next thing we knew the feller was off like a fox--chasin' after his prey! ORWEN: So we never did find out what happened next. ORGOCH: I'll bet that crazy goomer ain't got NO gal pal by now. Serves him right fer yellin' at her the way he was. He had one a them Jewish New York accents, just in case anyone cares. Kind a grated on my dang nerves, ta tell ya the truth! ORDDU: Now we're wondering what will be our next unpleasant experience at the parks with other guests... ORGOCH: Hmph! Sure won't have ta wait long--seein' as who I'm always at the parks with!!!

Can you imagine how cold hearted you'd have to be to do that--if this is true? Obviously he never took Mary Poppins very seriously. ORWEN: And that was a BIG mistake on his part!!!
