    This.

"Executives can't go with what is said on forums .. like here, micechat, etc."

I'm sure they don't. It would be irresponsible.

    No.

Because it was not returning in the first place, there was nothing to prevent.

Actually, there IS a possibility. Bob Iger, CEO of the Disney, said so himself. To paraphrase, "they are looking into it, but no decision has been made". If he said "absolutely not", then that would be another story.

Disney own the rights to Captain EO for all theme park environments - Jackson signed over all rights to the Company. If Disneyland chose to return the movie to the park then it could do so (although the current venue would need work to add back the in-theater effects).

The original plan was to screen EO at D23 Expo for the fanbase. WDI knew that the Arena projector was 3D and thought that it might be fun to bring it back for one last performance. Then Jackson died and it was deemed to be in bad taste to screen the movie. I believe that the rights for the one-off presentation had also not been secured prior to his death.

Ultimately it is a decision for Disneyland management to determine if EO should return. I can tell you that every one of my colleagues at WDI that I talk to do not want the movie to return. It was a product of its time. It should remain in the vault where it belongs.

Personally I hope it doesn't come back though - but if it does, hurray for all the fans who will enjoy it.

That may be true, but since his son's death in June, absolutely nothing has stood in the way of Joe Jackson filing actions in court and making an arse of himself.

Nice to know that the folks in Imagineering haven't completely lost their minds.

AT the end of the day Imagineers are employees... They come up with the ideas, but if management says no, do this instead, they are not going to quit, they are going to do as they are told.... Stop ragging on the Imagineers and start ragging on the ones who make the decisions on what to put in the park...

You do know that Paul Pressler is no longer at Disney, right? In fact he's been gone now for about seven years now.
