Originally Posted By brotherdave The question might be, was their lightning? If so, their policy might be to shut down any rides for safety reasons, possibly due to the way the building is grounded. I know CoP is a show, but, it is also a ride since the theatre turns. I don't know for sure what Disney's policy is about lightning storms, but, I do know that many other parks shut down ALL of their rides, even indoor rides, when there's a threat of lightning.

If there was, it certainly didn't stop them from operating Space Mountain, which had a constantly moving line the entire time we were waiting. I would think that the huge metal superstructure inside Space Mountain, along with the massive building itself, would be much more of a threat to lightning than COP.
