Yeah, I know that the the actual name is 'The Main Street Electrical Parade' but for whatever reason, it was referred to as ELP. Even on written schedules.

I was, an am, always perplexed when cast members use the backstage term to the guests.

A cast member is standing out in front of an attraction because it's currently not operating.

    Guest: 'What's going on?'
    Cast Member: 'Sorry, ma'am, we're 101'

The cast member thinks that '101' is some kind of universally used term for 'broken theme park attraction'?

At night on Main Street -- guest approaches cast member.

Guest: 'What are all these people waiting for?'

Cast Member: 'Oh, it's for the Electric Light Parade'

My least fav now - Walties - those of us that believe in Walt's vision, it is used as a put down.

    *sigh*

I was always amazed that cast members can be so bitter toward guests.

My response was that if you don't like working in customer service -- get out!

One that was ALWAYS used in Future World West was "Imag" for Imagination. That's pronounced "Eye-maj." With all the acronymns used on Disney boards, I'm surprised there's not a universally accepted shorthand for the Imagination pavillion.

hahaha I was told "I hope you have a magical day" by a CM cashier one day and it dawned on me I was just told where to go! For the first time in my life, I was the problem customer ... I dropped the stuff I was buying, kids were acting up and all over me making a scene, I dropped my wallet, then dropped my credit card, and basically took 4x as long at the till as I should have when there were tons of people in line. I laughed and laughed once I figured it out, apologized to her and gave her a thumbs up :)

I'm sure there's lots of other CM lingo. There'd have to be ways of telling customers off without them knowing it just to let off some steam. I give great credit to the CMs who must see a much higher number of problem customers then other customer service reps, yet they still keep smiling!

The trick is not what is said, but how it is said.

We have our regulars that wait for us to say it and if it a newbie and they don't say Have a magical they say it themselves. Now that may have the other meaning.
