Only this time, we will be packing up and heading down the 5 to San Diego. After a quick breakfast of cereal and milk in the room, we are all packed and ready to head off. Hugs all around to Second Mom and Second DD1 and well wishes for a safe drive back to AZ and her DH who is undoubtedly anxiously awaiting hearing all about their trip and seeing the pictures. Checking out was easy and we were on our way. I should mention that right before our trip, I had a crown placed on a very back molar because it was cracked and I did not want to risk it completely breaking while we were on vacation. Unfortunately, sometimes setting a crown and all the prep it takes is like kicking a sleeping dog. Along about Wednesday, I started getting twinges in my left jaw. Well, Thursday morning, I was starting to have real pain, so much so that 800 mg of Advil was keeping the pain at bay and we still had Thursday, Friday and the weekend to go before I could see my dentist. That’s okay; I have lots of Advil and know how much I can take without it bothering me. We got to Sea World about 10:30 and there were hardly any people there. I have never seen Sea World like this. It was great. We saw the Dolphin show first, met DD1’s French teacher who was there with her DH and DS, cute as can be. Then on to other stuff that is kind of a blur. I know we went on the Arctic ride, and saw the walruses and polar bears. Then over to Atlantis for 2 runs of that. We at lunch at the Budweiser place and saw the beautiful Clydesdale’s. What magnificent animals. Over to the sea otters and then fed the dolphins. An Egret was about 6 inches from my arm hoping I would not be paying attention to my little frozen fish so he could have a free lunch. Yes, you are a pretty bird, but no soup for you. Off to Forbidden Reef to stroke bat rays and look at the ugly Moray eels. Ewwww! We saw the shark exhibit and some other tropical fish including the Humuhumu-Nukunuku-Apua-a fish. I just love that name! These are little, well relatively speaking of course, native to Hawaii. We went on to the new Shamu show, Believe!, and enjoyed that very much and then it was time to head to the Bahia and check in. After unloading, we went over to Belmont Park to find swimsuits for DH and DD2 who forgot hers. I did, too, but, well, after 3 kids, I just don’t fit into the kind of swim suits they have in the shops on the beach. We watched the ocean for a bit until the sun set and then just picked up a pizza to go and went back to the hotel. The DH and the girls went down to have a soak in the Jacuzzi while I tried to make sense of the suitcases and chaos in the room. Everyone came back, and it was lights out. Day 6 This was going to be a restful day. We went over to Ocean Beach to have breakfast in a little beach front café where DH and I had breakfast when we came over to SD without kids last February. Delicious breakfast and more looking at the ocean, which I would never tire of doing. Outside the café, we met a woman with 2 enormous Great Danes. I mean these beautiful animals were huge. I am pretty short and their head came up chest high on me. Not kidding. Back to Pacific Beach and I purchased a par of flip-flops that I had my eye on the previous evening and then back to the hotel for some relaxing time by the pool. I did a quick work out in the exercise room and then blissfully sat in slothful joy and read my Susan Grafton mystery novel. This author writes mysteries by the alphabet and I am on letter P. It was a little time of heaven. The girls went back to the room for a nap and DH and I walked up to the ocean. We had a very nice walk on the beach, a smooch or two, and back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We had a nice dinner oceanside and then more walking along the ocean before heading back to the hotel to call it a night. Day 7 Time to pack up and head for home. This did not take long. We got coffee in the hotel restaurant and had cereal and milk in the room before loading up and heading home. The Bahia always has Harbor seals that are in need of rehabilitation in their seal pool, so we said good-bye to the seals and checked out and headed back home to AZ. What a wonderful vacation. A great time with family and friends. Two terrific destinations, the ocean and Disneyland. It was so nice to be back home and our kitties were so happy to see us. Nice to sleep in our own beds. One of the best things about going on vacation is coming home to one’s own bed. Some final observations: Crowds at DL: Practically none. The most crowded day was Tuesday, which I thought was interesting. We had 10 and 15 minute lines everywhere we went. The longest line time was Splash late Tuesday afternoon and we were not going on it then. Dining: Because of the lack of crowds, we had virtually no waiting to eat anywhere. Best dinner was at Village Haus in Fantasyland. DD1 ordered a kid’s meal of chicken strips, which came with a magic straw that changed color with the cold soda. We did not discover this happy event until she practically shouted, “Holy Toledo! Would you look at that?†Of course, all of us did and she demonstrated the marvel of this cool straw. WOW! Who knew? That put her Fun-O-Meter right through the roof, I’m telling you! Birthday stickers/buttons: DD1 had never had a birthday in DL, while I have had several since my BDay is Halloween and we always go close to Halloween. So we decided that she could have her birthday on Tuesday. She got a sticker and she will be 17 on her next birthday in February. Then on Wednesday, DD2 and Second DD1 had their birthdays. They each got buttons. Way cool. Second DD1 was a preemie and had she gone to her actual due date, our DD2 and she would have had Bday’s within about 10 days of each other. Many happy wishes were bestowed on all parties. It is so much fun to have a birthday in Disneyland. Next trip is the AZ turn-around bus trip in which my cousin and I will be going. He has not been to DL since his H.S. graduation trip in 1973. It will be December 2 and will be very busy, but I know we will have a great time. Thanks for reading all my posts and for all the nice comments. It is fun to write them and relive all the magic. I wish I could sum the whole trip up in one word….wait a minute! I can! It was SUPERCALIFRAJILISTICKEXPEALIDOCIOUS!!!!!! The end.

I spent the second night sleeping in the back seat of my van, which was much more comfortable. So this bus trip will be great in that I don't have to drive over or drive home. Wooo! Merry
