As several of us progressive types posted in another thread, we greatly respect Colin Powell and wish like heck the rest of the GOP were more like him.

Powell is the kind of leader the GOP needs desperately at this time. If more of the Republicans were like him, then Josh's request above would actually happen!

The man has the intelligence and maturity to work with other individuals, for which the Bush administration under the leadership of Karl "Bush's Brain" Rove threw Powell under the bus. We definitely need more men like Powell, and no one like Rove.

I hope and I pray that the moderates finally get fed up enough with the Tea Party and their obstinate "no compromise" attitude and kick them to the curb! They are the single biggest reason why nothing is getting done in Washington. They would rather die than compromise. They would rather vote against something they actually believe in, just to make the other party look bad. They care more about being right all the time, than helping the country get back on track. They've been co-opted by the billionaires to do their bidding, so it's time to clip their flying monkey wings and ground them permanently.

There are many important issues that finally need to be addressed in our nation, such as climate change, failing infrastructure, rising food prices, continuing mid-west drought, etc... so it's time for the teabaggers to grow up and help us deal with them, or get effn outta the way!

Here's hoping that the next four years sees even more improvement for the nation than the previous four.

The angrier they get, the more marginalized they are going to be.

I think that we are going to see a split in the GOP. Chris Christie was the first of what will likely be many who try to pull the GOP back to the center.

We need a strong conservative voice in our national discussion, but you can be conservative without being an right wing religious nut job. You can be conservative and accept the reality of global warming. You can see a hurricane and think that it was caused by weather rather than a vengeful God. You can realize that the brown-skinned person who just moved here from Oaxaca isn't your enemy.

Come back, moderate GOP. We need you.

As we saw with the senate seats won last night, they were given a chance in 2010, and the American public decided that they didn't want any more.

I doubt it's that high... 25% of population would basically mean 50% of the Republican party and I don't think that's the case...
