In Disneyland, that meant the closure of the Plaza Pavilion, which Disney has yet to officially announce plans for. However, the space which was once a restaurant, is now rumored to become a Mary Poppins-themed bakery. With a new, expanded bakery, Main Street's Blue Ribbon Bakery will close and make way for an indoor dining room for the popular Carnation Cafe restaurant.>

To which I say, 'what a great idea.'

As much as I enjoy the Main Street Bakery (both the baked goods and the interiors), it always bothered me that they took away the indoor seating for Carnation Plaza.

And a Mary Poppins themed bakery in the former Plaza Pavilion? Why hasn't Mary been more a part of Main Street before now? I know it's more character related, but Mary ain't no toon! :)

I remember thinking, then, that more space needed to be opened up for the patrons. Now they are coming close to solving the problem.

A strict Disney geek might say that it's "Main Street *USA*" and Mary is quintessentially British. But she's often appeared before, and certainly fits time-wise.

    Clarification:
The Carnation Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street was replaced by the Blue Ribbon Bakery, with the new Carnation Cafe (no relation) located on the street outside. The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor was opened next door.

Carnation Plaza Gardens is located down on the hub, to the left of the castle.

Carnation (the company) is no longer related to any of these.

Does Carnation milk/ice cream/butter/cream/etc. really still exist in a dairy case somewhere?

I do remember being little and having breakfast at Carnation inside and seeing a few imagineers having a breakfast meeting with blueprints on the table. That was exciting!
