Constance, you can do Plaza in before the park opens. You just tell a cast member at the gate that you have a reservation and they will scan your ticket and you go to breakfast. We only did it once, and they escorted us to the restaurant, but a friend of mine said they don't always escort you there, so I am not certain about that part of it.

If you go there, though, make sure you are in the main dining room; they have a little room off to the side which I can't imagine would be much fun. (We always get the earliest reservation which I believe is 7:30 and never lose any park time because we always go on a day we can't go in early.) Last visit we had an early ressie in the park and were told to go in a particular gate (on the left?) before the park opened, where they verified our ressie and let us through.
