Disney lawyers have got to be all twisted up about this. I mean, stealing software and copying DVD's is one thing. Stealing characters is another. But going as far as to build a copy of the park, holy cow. I must confess. I'd love to visit this place, at least once. It would be like going to another planet, to visit my favorite characters and places -- in the Twilight Zone. But any money I would spend I would send to Disney in the states instead.

But in regards to ripping off Disney, it's one thing to be living in a lawsuit-friendly republican-run country where corporations are assured by the feds they will succeed by not sharing their profits with the middle class they employ to help bring the dough, and it's quite another to live in a communist country where the economy thrives due to the American business it receives, and where lawsuits are probably non-existant. The Chinese know they own the World's markets. They can do as they please, and their goverment won't move a finger and stop such franchise infrindgements until we Americans, pull the plug on importing from China. Pure and Simple. Plus, you also have to add the other shameful equation to the mix... which is the many Americans who go to China to buy knockoff merchandise (clothing/dvds/jewelry etc etc) for much cheaper prices.. effectively sending the wrong message to the Chinese...that is is "ok" for them to continue such questionable practices.

Also consider what might transpire if the rest of the world started to sanction China so much that thier huge population began to suffer even more? A nation of that size starving and suffering could be forced into taking drastic measures in order to survive. They do have the largest military in the world. I'm not saying that what China is doing is OK, but this is a much deeper issue than just "This is wrong! Why doesn't Disney/US government do something about it?".

They hate having to pay out when you burn yourself with Mc Donalds hot coffee. I seem to recall the Dems being the protectors of the status quo, claiming that the current tort system protects consumers (and makes trial lawyers very rich).

Because they use the absurd judgments and pay days to push for limits where there should be none (like $250,000 for malpractice in some states ... we're so sorry your child died because our surgeon was intoxicated but we can't pay you $50 million ...) ... if you pick the most crazy cases anyone would agree refor is needed. The sick thing is how it is being used to warp the system further and take idividuals' rights to sue away or limit them to tiny amounts.
