Last time we happened to be there during one such competition...there seemed to be a fad going on which consisted of cheerleaders riding around WDW all day in wheelchairs borrowed from the stroller rental centers. I was curious about what I was seeing. I thought I was seeing cheerleader after cheerleader being pushed around, usually two or three in a group of ten. They would take turns pushing each other, often up to the handicap entrance of a line or up the exit, only to bound out of their wheel chairs and onto the ride without waiting in line like the rest of us non-physically chanllenged people. Still, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt to these teenaged poor souls. Until... I saw one such stero-typical cheerleader mom, (bleached blond hair from a Wal-mart bottle, shorts a little too short for a 36 year old woman, and gushes many and often over her girls about their talents) and I happened to be walking up to retreive a stroller, while they were making their way to the exit of a ride for entrance. I was curious so I picked up the newborn (holding a newborn gives a father the right to do almost anything or say almost anything in almost any situation without reproach for some unknown reason) and I asked this thirty-something teenager, "Hey what is the deal with the wheel chairs and all these girls? Is there some group at the park that cannot walk but can jump out of their chair onto a ride?" The cheer mom replied, "Oh no no no...this is he biggest competition of the year. ESPN is going to cover it. And the girls you see in the wheel chairs are riding in the wheel chairs to save their legs for their competition." I was dumb struck. I quickly replied (baby in my arms like a shield against evil) "That is about the most rediculous thing I have ever heard." To this she replied, "Why?" Then I said, "Because I would really like to ride on one of those electric carts myself, but I rather leave them for people who really need them." The lady was such an idiot that she didn't even understand my point. So, it began in high school when I played football...and the reasons are so long I can't begin to list them all. But this example that I have set forth is the crowning jewel of what cheerleading is all about. Also, I must mention that on my way out of the park, I overheard a cheer mom getting angry with the people near the stroller rental...something about how she couldn't believe there were no more wheel chairs. Heaven forbid some older guests were probably having to walk or just go home that day, because they too couldn't get a wheel chair. I asked one of the parents

I'm not sure where you could ask about the competitions, but I would guess the Wide World of Sports would be a good place to start.

Just start taking them out one by one.
