It had been so beautiful to behold in the past. The idea of not having it up for Christmas any longer was too much of a disappointment to have to contend with. So we stayed away from the park for that reason alone.

ORWEN: Now we're wondering what it was like at Epcot during the 2010 Christmas season. Was there anything to make up for the loss of those wonderful Festival of Lights? If so, we may decide to try going back for Christmas in 2011.

    ORGOCH: Got thistletoe???

ORWEN: What is the pryamid lighting, Epcot Explorer, duckling?

And the pyramid lighting is just that. Back in the 80's and 90's, the whole glass facade of Journey into Imagination used to change colors every few seconds, much like Spaceship Earth. When the pavilion was overhauled in 1999, the whole thing went dark.

Then, in 2008, lighting was restored, but only the orange scheme.

Finally, this year, it's color changing again! Very pretty effect.

Now, if only we could get SSE to do the same thing again...

Here's a few of the pics (and video) I snapped a few weeks ago of the new effect.

ORWEN: Epcot really needs to do more for Christmas. Don't they care any more?

    ORGOCH: Is the Pope Jewish?

But without decorations and a focal point, it is a little bleak.

At least the Tree was working this year.
