I have very fond memories of the Christmas parades from the 1980's, which had more representations of the classic animated films. I miss those days!

They looked like elves in all white, and just sort of generally out of place in the middle of the Winter Wonderland section. They were still doing the same choreography, which is really spread out when they don't have the giant snowflakes attached to them. It was probably just a temporary change for whatever reason, but it still looked a little funny. The people who I was with didn't know they were supposed to have snowflakes and were all commenting on how cute their outfits were, so I guess it wasn't the end of the world.

They really do make a big difference on that part of the parade, IMO, and their choreography looks very stiff and just generally weird without them.

If you really want to see Mary and Bert, they come down the parade route with the Grand Marshall for the day. While technically not part of the Christmas parade, they are still kind of there (I don't think they were really dancing though, maybe just an occasional choreographed moved with a lot of waving).

And like other posters have said above, bring back the most beloved old characters to tug at the heartstrings of the parents, mixed in with the new characters.

They could reuse the same theme for the song, but a different arrangement would do them wonders. I really like how the POD music only clearly stops at the end of the show stops (where it's pretty clear that it has come to a finale of sorts). With a finale every time you see a different group of performers in front of you, it becomes a little exhausting to watch the whole thing. If they could re-arrange the same song so it looped better, I think the parade would be greatly improved, based on that alone.
