Claim Jumper Files Pre-Arranged Bankruptcy

    The restaurant chain is being sold to one of its investors and expects to emerge from the BK debt free with the new owner. The company head says they intend to operate as they always have, but the cynic would respond with "isn't that what got you $500M in debt in the first place?"

    They probably will be ok, but just the same, I'd be using any Claim Jumper gift cards very soon if you have any laying around. We did today.

    A few years ago a Mimi's opened right here in good old Loveland. For the first few years that place was packed. Then other chain restaurants popped up around it, just as the slowdown hit two years ago. Now most of these places are usually half empty, even on Fridays and Saturdays and that includes Mimi's.

    The first chain to close in our town was the Black Eyed Pea and I expect others will follow as there are way too many chain eateries here.

    anyway, we go a round about way on some toll ride(i am not the driver- so don't have a clue about road signs). but, claim jumpers is sooo good!! the portions have always been huge in the past. and i remember a dessert for several people that was out of this world!! we might have to change the game plan for this november.

    At the same time, I've made a conscious decision to shift all of my dining business to locally owned establishments and am not visiting any of the national chains. I figure that I'd rather help a local restauranteur weather the store than the board of directors for a dining chain that is making most of its meals in the microwave anyway.
