And that is not just the Downtown Disney location, but all stores by May of 2009.

They have a great location in DtD, next to the GCH entrance. Should be interesting to see what goes in its place.

First off, from the Press Release linked in the 1st post...

    >>The Club Libby Lu business was not profitable. <<

Disney has been looking at ways to reduce risk, such as the potential deal with the 2 new hotels in AGW, where a Developer will build and own the stores, and Disney will just get a management fee and naming rights.

The location is a prime location, and should bring in a lot of revenue just from the lease payments. Disney might opt for not taking the risk, and just collect the guaranteed money.

I wonder if the addition of the Princess Fantasy Faire had anything to do with the overall demise. I had heard that Disney was opening up another Bibbiti Boppiti Boutique insiside the princess shop between the castle and Snow White, so I would be interested to see if Disney also takes over the operation of the DTD location and makes it 3 places like that in the resort, all run by Disney.

And I've always wondered what Disney would do with the pavement in front of the door, as every time I walk by it's a huge pink mosiac of the CLL logo. I'm sure they could take it out, but it would be tough to fill in the extra spaces around the edges of what ever they replace it with so it doesn't look too 'new' compared to the rest of the pavement. As sad as it is to see something in DTD get shut down, it will be a fun space to watch change. Speaking of which, anybody know what's going in next to Dept 56?

Dept 56 was and is filled with stuff that it seems could be more easily purchased online. I can see why they cut back their floorspace.

BTW, what's going on at Garden Walk? Did they finally get all the retail spaces filled?

Disney has entered into a marketing agreement with AGW, which will be announced shortly, which should help.

Johnny Rockets opened today, and the majority of the mall is leased. But there are plenty of spaces that still need to be leased, as some companies have walked away (I would say about 25% of the spaces).
