When we were in Disneyland back in July, my daughter and I headed into the locker area on mainstreet to use the payphone, had to phone back home about an appropriate gift for 2 year old. Anyway, just as I was about to pick up the phone, it rang, it startled me, and I paused, it rang again, then a third time...I really should have just went to another phone, but you know what they say about curiosity....so I picked it up. me..."hello?" creepy voice..."hello" me like an oaf..."who is this?" creepy voice..."someone who's watching you, you better not hang up the phone...." which of course I did right then. teenage daughter was literally hopping up and down asking "who is it? what did they say?"...she says she knew by the look on my face and the fact I went all white it was not good. I was actually shaking. I naively thought when it was ringing, it may be something the park does, it would be Mickey or another character on there saying they hoped you were having a good day....dumb I know. In Canada, we have *69 which will tell you the number that was calling, but that did not work. anyway I went over to city hall to tell them about it, but other than apologising (told him it was obviously not their fault no need to apologise) there was obviously nothing they could do. Also up in Canada, you are unable to phone pay phones. I think this is a good thing! Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? Can't imagine the sickey that would have to have gone into the park and gotten the telephone number off the payphone so he could go home and make crank calls to the park. Freaking demented, needs to get a life. I won't be answering any ringing payphones in the US from now on!

I suppose the creep just noted the number on the phone and probably was calling from a cel.

You did the right thing and have the right plan for the future.

You were punked. The kid wasn't home. He was in the park, out of view, watching and waiting for someone to walk up to that phone to place a call.

I've seen bored and brainless teens pull this stunt in shopping malls.

People get confused after that... xD

Exactly my thought. smiley_face, this was the main idea of a movie from 2002 called Phone Booth. Pay it no mind - it was just some kids playing a joke. And they may not even have been on the premises - just calling from home to see who they can spook.

He said is was a convenience thing for people especially for business calls, you can have someone call you back and not have to pay for the call then. Anyway, you guys made me feel better, I was brooding about the whole thing.
