Originally Posted By oredisneyfan Oregon spring break is march 21-30. this year due to state budget cuts for education they are most likely to add an extra week on to it. it isnt official yet but we are told to expect to be off from the 14th of march. I wonder if this will affect any other states sp breaks as budget cuts are expected for most. (unfortunately it always seems education gets the cuts first.) We have gone twice in past years at the end of march and we thought it was pretty busy but prefer it to summer crowds. Plus if it rains then it seems like peolple leave the park for a while and it has rained at least one day on each of our previouse trips. We will be there march 23-27 and will be prepared for rain. if your prepared it is a good thing, a must for us is an extra pair of shoes for everybody... have fun

Everything I've read on the Net tells me that the weeks before and after Easter are the worst. We purposefully tried to avoid that time. I know Easter fell earlier last year (March 23). We've been going the first week of December (around Candlelight Proc.) for many years, but have to start working around our son's vacation schedule, as he gets older. During that time, it can be really busy on Saturday, but usually not too bad on weekdays. We're preparing for big crowds, but hoping for minimal cattle herding. We'll just do shows and parades on Saturday. If we can make it on Peter Pan without waiting half the day I'll be happy! We do pretty well in the rain (it often rains at DLR in Dec. too), like true Oregonians. We just bring ponchos and gear everyone up with synthetic thermal underwear. Good tip on the shoes - especially for the kids. Flip-flops can be a good choice in the rain Hope you all have a magical trip!

We've had a couple years that the wildfires were pretty bad in CA so the crowds were pretty light. Regardless, the crowds are alot more managable in the spring than in the summer. The weather is warm (60's-70's). Most rides are up and running as the winter refurbs are complete. This is our preferred time to travel. You just have to watch for cheerleader conventions but still, we love to go during this time every year.

I dont know if the rest of Oregon will do similar things to balance their budgets but I am guessing if you had snow days up north they may just call that even. It is to bad since we already have one of the shorter school years in the country.
