We're thinking of returning to San Diego for a spring vacation this year, and we might revisit the WAP.

Do you think we'll now be disappointed with the WAP, after experiencing DAK?

Heck, maybe we should just return to Orlando this spring instead. Im thinking....Expedition Everest!

Final Say: Love both parks! Respect WAP more for there Animal Conservation programs, but love DAK for the overall experience. I don't know how a 16 year old would react to WAP. I loved it at that age, but I was a big animal geek.

If you do go, by tickets from Costco. I saved about $10 a ticket.

I am going to DAK this March for Everest...so excited.

The WAP and DAK are almost completely different in concept. The big thing to do at the WAP is the tram ride where you can see animals in their "native" habitate, in huge enclosures that give them the chance to roam and to interact with other species within their enclosure. DAK has a smaller version of this (K. Safari), but includes rides that are missing at WAP.

I did say almost before - the two parks do have something very much in common - the lack of a good sit-down restaurant in the park! Unlike the San Diego Zoo, with Albert's, for a good meal at the WAP, you have to leave to go outside for a "normal" restaurant, just like at DAK.

A few things about the WAP:
Its very hilly in some parts (and no escalators like at the SD Zoo).
It gets very hot there in the summer.
Take the tram ride at night! You get to see the animals in a different "light" (bad pun intended).
