Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO), also known as hydric acid, is a colorless and odorless chemical compound. If you been to WDW at any time throughout its history, you have had certain exposure to DMHO. DHMO is known for the following dangers: Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities. Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage. Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects. Be aware of what's around you. For more information about DHMO, see www.DHMrg

The hoax is designed to illustrate how the lack of scientific knowledge and an exaggerated analysis can lead to misplaced fears. Dihydrogen monoxide, shortened to DHMO, is a scientific name for water that, while technically correct, is almost never employed. The hoax was apparently created by Eric Lechner, Lars Norpchen and Matthew Kaufman, housemates while attending UC Santa Cruz in 1989, revised by Craig Jackson in 1994, and brought to widespread public attention in 1997 when Nathan Zohner, a 14-year-old student, gathered petitions to ban "DHMO" as the basis of his science project, titled "How Gullible Are We?"[1]

Nicely done, Mark! My boys Mark & Brian, hosts of a syndicated morning radio show out of Los Angeles, pulled a great one yesterday. They had some Hispanic dj's record a mock show, including announcing and latino music, to play for the first 15 minutes of their show yesterday, fooling people into believing that the station had changed format. And then for the next hour they played recordings of all the people who freaked out and called in to complain that their favorite guys weren't on the air. Priceless!
