Personally, the park is transforming, why not the name? It would end any reference to its troubled past. How do I know? I still meet and talk to people who don't even know what Disney's California Adventure is. They had just "heard" about there being another park.

But hopefully the mediocrity gives way to greatness over time. And by that time, I certainly hope they change the name. Because right now, that name "Disney's California Adventure" is pure poison from an image and marketing standpoint. Which is why it was never mentioned even when perhaps the best new area theming and new attraction (TSMM) to ever come to DCA debuted.

'Adventure' is about as common a name for an amusement park as you can get. 'Sea World Adventure Parks' 'Michigan's Adventure' (which appears to be a new name for a Cedar Fair theme park) 'Islands of Adventure' 'Alabama Adventure' (formerly 'Visionland' -- what's the theme there, eyes?) 'Adventure City' (in Anaheim no less...) 'Adventuredome' (Circus/Circus - Las Vegas) 'Adventureland' (Indiana) 'Cypress Gardens Adventure Park' (crazy that it's now an 'Adventure' park) 'Six Flags Great Adventure' (New Jersey) 'Timber Falls Adventure Park' (Wisconsin) 'American Adventure' (now closed) 'MGM Grand Adventures' (now closed -- thankfully) Even up here 'Great America' is now called 'California's Great America.'
Originally Posted By disneywatcher >> But I've heard somewhere that DCA is changing it's name with the remodel. << Dear God, I hope so. The fundamental mistake of the park dates back to the very beginning, when DisCo planners came up with the nonsensical idea that "California" -- or, for that matter, any single state in America -- was all so that, that it deserved a Disney park themed to it. Not helping matters, "Adventure" makes the park sound even hokier and more provincial, like one of those carney-type places in the Midwest that's open a few months each year for people who are in dire need of a way to kill a few hours.

LOL :~ Using the "Disney" name in newer parks (aside from "MK" parks) is used to 'homegenous/generic' usage to the hilt! An original name would be appreciated.
