I appreciated the feedback, I want to lock in the rate as soon as I can.

Parking is very limited though.

The hotel itself was ok. Motel 6 quality. It's management that we had a problem with & the viewing of X rated programs at 8 PM on the TV's.

Just be forewarned that if a problem does arrive, Carlos Padilla is the owner. They're not corporate owned, so besides writing up a review, there was nothing I could do.

Wendebird, sorry to hear about your experience. I actually read your tripadvisor report before posting here at LP. I never use my debit card anything except for gas and maybe walmart. I've seen some people deal with problems with trying to use debit cards with hotels, rental cars, and even restaraunts. My sister-in-law got burned twice (and she works for a bank) with using her debit card -- once at a restaraunt and the other for a membership at Curves. Not to mention, if some crook-minded individual get's your card info, he can start spending money right out of your account... I use credit cards 100% when traveling. You can dispute charges before even paying a dime towards the statement.

I can understand the problem with managment... some times they forget they are in the business of HOSPITALITY. I guess they think they can get away with it because of their prime location.

I would think that if that happened to anyone, they would be infuriated. Imagine checking your balance at the ATM to find $200 deducted from your checking account. Then realizing you never made those charges or gave authorization for it. Infuriating doesn't even begin to tell you how I felt or feel about the Desert Inn.

My kids (ages 7 & 9) are not illness prone so I'm about 99.9% sure it was the pool. Plus we all ate the same stuff and neither my husband or I got sick. We now have a rule "no public pools allowed!!!"

any suggestions for alternative hotels that wont break the bank? I am looking to stay 6 nights -- Tuesday thru Sunday.

According to their website, it was renovated between January and June this year, so if you're looking to go after that, it should be spic and span.

Please note, I have not stayed there, and won't be until August....

Interesting enough... the Unofficial Guide to DL rates the Desert Inn @ 3.5 stars... go figure.

Thanks for all the input. Tiggerdis, what is the going rate for you in Aug at the Camelot?

Thanks for your review, wendebird. I now know what to watch out for.

We did not use the pool, had the TV on minimal since we were at the parks almost the whole open to close.

I read about Wendebird's experience after we had been there and I am so sorry she experienced such difficulties.

The sinks are outside the bathrooms so multiple people can get ready at the same time. The beds were comfortable, had a good sized fridge, micro. Our rooms were always cleaned by lunch time. The fireworks veiwing deck was neat too. We loved being right across the street from disneyland. We just made sure that we didn't use our debit card to pay for the hotel, as wendebird had problems with that. I would recommend this hotel again. I will stay there again. Oh the breakfast is small, the orange juice was good though, and the pool was really clean and nice. Hope you have a great time and like the hotel too.
