In the 70's, Imagineering came up with a new land for Disneyland I'm sure everyone here has heard of: Discovery Bay. It was to be soemwhat of an extension of Frontierland but with more of a science-fiction motif. More specifically, the setting for Discovery Bay was San Francisco from the 1850's to the 1880's, or something like that. And since California Adventure has a pathetic San Francisco area that might get replaced with the Little Mermaid anyway, wouldn't some form of Discovery Bay make a lot of sense for DCA as a strengthened San Francisco area? Does anybody know if something like this is even being talked about for either one of the parks? Your thoughts?

They do have "big plans" for DCA and that area, but who knows? Anything would be better than the off-the-shelf crap that's there now... my opinion of course. Have a Disney Day! I'm typing this during an afternoon break at OKW during my vacation at WDW, and things are 'weird' here right now. No Spaceship Earth, no RnR Coaster and the Contemp and AKL are being torn apart. Discovery Bay could take over what is now Pacific Wharf and expand beyond that into the southwest portion of the parking lot that goes all the way to Katella. I'm picturing a cable car ride utilizing Indiana Jones ride technology that races past elaborate sets depicting what San Francisco looked like during the Gold Rush. I know that wasn't a part of the original concept, but I think it would fit in nicely.

But I'd love to be able to walk around a town like that.
