The interactive game, modeled after the once immensely popular TV show, will play for the last time on Aug. 19. Officially, Disney confirmed Tuesday only that Millionaire is closing Aug. 19, based on the company's regular course of re-evaluation. "Preparation will begin for a new guest experience in that sound stage later this year," said Walt Disney World spokesman Jacob DiPietre. He could not comment further about the new attraction. Some Disney-MGM employees were advised of a new ride this year. One, Bob Frazier, a veteran Disney employee who is a trainer, coordinator and attraction host at Disney-MGM, said the planned new ride was described to him as a top attraction, and as a cross between Universal Studios' Men in Black and Disneyland's Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin. Both of those rides take people in cars through a maze of indoor scenes with robotic characters and other special effects. On Men in Black, riders shoot ray guns at aliens and tally scores. On Roger Rabbit, riders have some control over driving their cars.<<

I think Disney is making the right choice at the right time on this. If anything (due to the millionaire/Regis tie-in) it is overdue, but I would love to see the trivia concept come back in a more clever presentation as a new WDW attraction. Lee might be able to correct me on this, but I didn't think Midway Mania was opening until 2008.

Mike you are right on the show front I think. It always amazes me when people say they spent 1-2 full days at D-MGM but then I forget that I don't do things like Little Mermaid, Millionaire, B&B, Indy, Playhouse Disney etc. regularly. It really is genius planning that D-MGM has so many shows to absorb people's time. I guess the same with DAK when it first opened. Funny that MK has nothing to offer anymore on that front.

Originally Posted By ChiMike >>ut MK sure could use something that eats 30 - 45 minutes at a crack<< Well, how about a 20 minute flume ride where 20K was. If anything, the attractions with a decent ride time are all removal targets or have been removed. Timekeeper CoP HoP and if you listen to the crazy rumors CBJ Not to twist your post. Not at all. I understand you meant shows, I just don't see it happening at MK. Not with MGM and AK needing to keep their attraction roster up. The trend for MK has been to lower cycle/circuit times for shows and attractions to deal with guests' alleged attention deficit disorder.

My memory tells me it wasn't as surypy as today's fare. It could be that I'm 25 years older.

I thought we'd get to tour movie sets or something, but all you get is a montage from the movie, an encounter with the White Witch (which was kind of cool) and a few props/costumes from the film. They put so little effort into it! Why did they even bother?

They put so little effort into it! Why did they even bother?< see I guesss it was expectation levels. Some posters here on LP reviewed it so I was prepared for a weekend project type attraction ( like most that go in on that street) - so I wasn;t disappointed- I got what I expected. Would I love a full blown Narnia attraction - you bet ! But the encounter with the White Witch - although far too brief -- and the cold air set on a few days when it was 95 - 97 was OK for me. Also the props from the movie.....the sleigh was cool.

Nikki hit it on the head - sorta cool moment with the reveal of the witch, surrounded by film clips and a few lame props. Very poorly done, more suited to a theater lobby presentation than an element of a Disney park.

The Star Wars edition during Star Wars Weekends was awesome too, did that last year and it was the highlight of me and my husband's day. As for Narnia - I liked it better than the Haunted Mansion exibit that was in there when that movie came out. At least Narnia has the White Witch. Overall I'd consider both time fillers and not something I'd urge anyone to go out of their way to see.
