It looks like the Tangled float will have people swinging back and forth, similar to the a bug's life float in the Pixar Play Parade in DCA. I assume Captian Hook and Smee are also involved in some sort of stunt, but I really can't figure out what's going on with that float; it's a really interesting structural design!

I'm not as thrilled about Soundsational at Disneyland, either. It looks okay but the music ruins it for me. Everything is too rocky and hip and edgy. They take all the magic and whimsy out of Disney parades that should be made for the young at heart by turning it into a wierd kind of rock concert that turns off the young at heart and usually makes the hip and edgy crowd laugh.

HECK, Go for the gusto.. give us a new electrical parade AND new night time EPCOT lagoon show as well. This is great news.

But at least one big float from Flights of Fantasy will be re-used in the replacement parade for 2028, and will then be lightly redressed and re-used for several more parades through the year 2041. That is, if they follow their established pattern of using the same Castle float that debuted in 1986, and then running the current Celebrate parade with slight marketing changes since 2000. Let's hope Steve Davison designed sturdy floats to make it through 2020's and 2030's.

Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt "If Flights of Fantasy follows the well established parade pattern for WDW..." You mean Festival of Fantasy. Flights of Fantasy was a parade that ran at DL for the New Fantasyland at that park back in the 80s. Easy mistake to make since hardly anything has changed conceptually since then. Same script, same cast.

It better be darn good, because it will be running in the Magic Kingdom every afternoon for a decade or more, and that balloon float will be in use in follow-up parades until 2041. ;-)

Soundsational at least has a much stronger cast, better staging and choreography, and is at least more cohesive than the mess WDW or Paris puts out. Happiness is Here is, of course, perfectly wonderful. Not as extravagant in size and scale as Jubilation! (except that tall finale float), but is perfectly balanced in terms of staging, variation, etc. Flights of Fantasy is beautifully designed, an amazing concept, with beautiful music ... but lacks something to me - not a fan of the un-necessarily long show stop (that not everyone along the route gets to see), and without it, the parade portion is too short.

Press releases for Disney parades always come off a bit vague...but I think that's because Steven and team keep things pretty fluid through the process, and they wait to reveal more solid details until it gets closer to premiering the actual parade for the press. I'm sure we'll get more details on the concept later. And as for over-running this parade like previous...I don't know. Steven says parade floats really only have a shelf like of 3.5 years, of which they then need major refurbishment to keep running...that's why he seems to suggest that daytime parades should run for no longer than 5 years. If this parade is as extravagant and technical as his parades can be, I don't know if WDW management will be able to pull their recycle crap with this.
