C'mon that's less than a fast food burger.

Hell, can anyone here name ONE item at a WDW park that you can buy for 69 cents or less (no, a postage stamp doesn't count).

Yes, that is what everyone should have been talking about following the recent round of Disney ticket price increases. Someone clue Jason Garcia in because he missed that in his piece on the media increase. To be fair, he wasn't alone.

Spirit you must be crazy (no, Mom, I'm fine ... remember when you said I was 'special'? don't you love me?!??!) you say? How can WDW possibly cost 69 cents a day? Very simple.

Lost in all the 'Disney raises prices again' fervor was the reality that TWDC, in a very Burbank-centric decision, looked at the calculus and came to the conclusion that's all 'the world's number one tourist destination' ... WDW ... was worth. OK, they didn't say that. But what's that saying about action speaking louder than words?

Gather round the fire, and let old Spirit (time to color that hair) tell the tale ...

See, if you look at the pricing heading west to east, a Disney Parks Premier Pass will now cost you $750. Take that down one notch, just one, to the Disneyland Premium AP at $499, and that leaves you with only a charge of $251 for a year of everything WDW offers.

(Remember, a day is now $85.)

Yes. Everything. From Phil Holmes Ghetto Kingdom (where you can count the number of effects actually working on Splash Mountain, a much smaller number than the ones not working) ... to EPCOT (where the future looks a lot like it died in 1997) ... to TPFKaTD-MGMS (that's the park with very little to do beyond take pictures of the kids in front of the giant hat) ... to DAK (home of Disco Yeti and his boyfriend Leehisownselfwhoalwaysstandsreadywithlube) ... to BB and TL (where you may go blind after viewing some of the sights) and DQ (the ice cream stand version is a better place) and even ESPN's WWoS (is anything actually there?)

Anyway, all of the above is yours for just 69 cents a day with the purchase of an 'I'm a special MAGICal Disney fan Premier AP' and you gotta admit, there has NEVER (short of a lifetime free pass) been a better deal for WDW admission, right?

And yeah, that's just 69 pennies a day. But, to be sure, it is still a dramatic increase. It was only 61 cents a day before this latest upping of prices.

Sixty-one CENTS a day for Disney.

You know, even the most cynical among us would say that's one amazing, unbelievable bargain.

Why isn't Jason Garcia writing this? Why isn't Kevin Yee touting this (not that it will likely get him placed on the Whorefest list, sorry buddy ... you DO deserve so much better!)? Why aren't the bloggers and podcasters telling their avid fans (can't Lou or Tom count to 69?)

I say that THIS is the greatest value in the history of themed entertainment. Of course, there is another way of looking at this (you did realize that, right?)

Almost as though Burbank has lost all confidence in its theme entertainment offerings. Or, as my good, good friend's husband Leemakesyetismile put it, at least at its 'loss leader' (lost leader?) WDW.

Oh ... and to be very clear, this IS NOT the goodnight kiss, good morning Burbank thread I was talking about.

I mean ... this makes them look good, right? It's like they're giving WDW away ... you take it, no you take it, no ... let's get Mikey, he likes everything ...

But is there a way to just get THAT rate? That's the perfect price to pay for Disney...

And on the flip side of the argument, a WDW Preminum Annual Pass (the one that includes all the bonuses that the Premiere has) is $691, making the DLR add-on cost only $49, or a measly 13 cents per day. Even if you only have the regular WDW AP at $510, the DLR add on is still just $240, or 65 cents a day. If you can manage to spend a lot of time at both resorts, it's an incredible deal. For most people, however, that's just not possible.

Okay, it's bedtime (past, actually), I'm not thinking about the flood for a few minutes, and I could really use a distraction AND a goodnight kiss. Bring it!

So in order to make sense of the Premier Pass one had to use it at Disneyland as well. To break even on the Disneyland Premium AP, you have to use it at least 7 days at Disneyland and can't spend those days at WDW. So it would be 70 cents per day :)

Wasn't the price for the premier pass once rumored to be $800 before it came out?

And btw the DLP annual passes are in that price category as well - they range between 0.36 and 0.54 Euro per day (0.51 and 0.77 $). There might be an argument that those are way too low as well - one of the reasons for EDL's financial problems?
