I do not have a lot of experience in this area.

Wouldn't a Segway be unnavigable in a crowded theme park, not to mention a potentially dangerous hazard for pedestrians? There seems to be some important details missing from this article on how this is going to be resolved.

Just the thought of attempting to navigate a segway through Adventureland on a crowded day is risible. I don't even see how people manage the ubiquitous scooters in that perpetual traffic jam.

Oh, none of this makes the least amount of sense. Very few cities allow Segways on their sidewalks, but a theme park must for the public to have a much fuller experience? Hog wash!

Different muscles and exertion I guess.

Should someone with heart issues be riding many of the rides at Disneyland?

I can see the Segway being abused just like the "handicap" system at Disneyland is abused today. Disney legally can't ask for proof, so anyone can go to City Hall, get a wheelchair and cheat the system. I see same thing happening in this case..

One thing I just recently thought of is how easy it is for a segway to go out of control. Just thinking about it, you could win americas funniest videos! She leans the wrong way coming off of Pirates, tries to dodge the people and BAM, hits the railing and flips into the Rivers of America. 10,000 Dollars! If they make Disneyland accept segways I am totally carrying a video camera every time I go.

Well boo hoo hoo. The first time one of those riders rams me, I'm going to sue them into the ground.
Then they'll be disabled and broke.

They are perfectly fine to stand in lines in the rest of society, but when it comes to Disneyland we are told they have such-and-such bone disorder that makes it painful to stand in one place for more than a few minutes so they MUST have the GAC card to cut the line and fulfill their life's leisure desires.

They are too humiliated to rent a wheelchair, or their such-and-such disorder is aggravated by sitting in a wheelchair and so that's out. They can't stand in line, they can't sit in line, they can't be around too many people in line, they must keep moving and never wait more than 10 minutes for anything. (By the way, they usually LOVE to watch World of Color or Alladin or Fantasmic standing or sitting in place for 45 minutes, but that doesn't count because it's a show they want to see. It's not a boring Standby line.)

Knowing all that, and knowing that some otherwise very nice person will show up shortly to explain to me how they are now "offended!" by my brusque comments, it is absolutely no surprise that there will be a growing population of people who will show up at Disneyland with their personal Segways and insist it is their right to ride them around the park to help their disability and handicap and personal tragedy that can only be cured by regular visits to Disneyland.

    Puke.

And now someone is "offended!" in 5, 4, 3, 2...

Segways have a footpring of 33" wide by 25" deep. That's not too bad when compared by the lower tech - 3 wheeler "segway" wanna-be's.Those are monsterous.

Segways have no business inside stores. They are too unwieldly when in tight quarters. Can you imagine the lengths that Opps would have to go to to create Segway friendly ride vehicles?

Mark my words, they will ruin it for everyone. Eventually a trip to Disneyland will start out by dawning your personal virtual reality glasses, buckle in to your comfy recliner and spend a day at DL with friends and family.

They are pretty much the size and look of electric wheelchairs or even smaller.

But they don't address the issue of those who are demanding that they have a medical need to stand, but not walk.
