They would build an elaborate model train set that ran underneath it.

I'm not sure if there is space, but it seems like there is room on the corner between Hollywood and Sunset Blvds. There may be some drinking fountains in the way though. I'm not sure how much it would affect traffic, since that is a very busy intersection and it doesn't really need anything taking up too much space.

With the DAK tree, it seems to fit in better than the MGM tree outside the gates, but I would still prefer it to be inside. The style of the MGM tree is more to the tan 1920's/30's look of the streets in the front of the park, instead of the teal art deco entrance area. The entrance structures at DAK match the area past them pretty well, so the tree fits in better. Their tree was also just inside the entrance gates, so it was designed for that general area of the park.

When did AK have a tree inside the park? I don't think I visited AK during Christmas in its early years, but as far as I know, the tree has always been outside the gates in at least two different locations. The original tree was very odd, with "layers" of evergreen and huge open wholes in between the layers. I love the tree AK has now. It may be my favorite of the four main park's trees.

Personally, I believe the DAK xmas tree is the nicest of the four parks.
