    Of course. However, the chugging steam engine and steam effect combined with the backward motion of the train after the rope breaks pulls it all together in a convincing way that wouldn't have worked if the rope just suddenly "broke". This ride looks like a lot of fun.

    It's a classic storytelling tactic used in literature and film.

    In a word, PLUSH. Human characters without movie or Toon synergy, would have no merchandising power. Throw a bunch of cute and mischievous bears into the attraction and viola, you have instant souvenir sales. Look at Duffy sales in TDL and you see why the bears.
