I want them to look nice (I have 2 of them the 50th anniv book I got last week and a general "where friends share the magic one" I got a couple holidays ago. I have lots of ideas to save money on stickers and stuff (I have lots of pamplets and thingys from trips and whatnot).. I was thinking I could reuse cardstock or buy a big tablet of construction paper or something for layering, plus I keep all the sticker I am ever given in those annoying spam mailers for videos and stuff. I have also been lurking on your scrapswap topics and seeing how you swapping folks do it (when I was in the army years ago I had a 'scrapbook' I would just glue Stars & Stripes Articles & our HQ paper I liked into it.. I don't have that one anymore depite having some friends get front page on some of them). Anyway I definitely want them to look nicer than my Army thing, thus the lurking. OK! ENOUGH RAMBLING: What is a "journal box"?? I see this mentioned on the scrapswap thread. I just wondered. Other qustions: do I need a special glue? this seems like a ripoff when I could use my UHU glue stick. -How many different scissors & stamps do you really need? I have 2.. castle and Stitch. I like them. I haven't really used Stitch yet but I imagine he's neat. -How practical is it to make your own stickers? and what is that dye thing? I don't make greeting cards although I know some folks who do. How practical is all that stuff? -Do you ever find good deals at the disney outlets for scrapping materials? We havent been in ages. I'm trying to save $ but I also don't want to buy anything I really don't need. -what do you do when you get those kits at Target they look neat but they remind me of multipacks from Costco/ Sams Club.. there's always something in the variety pack I don't want, thus I haven't gotten any. What do you do with the charms? I can't see using those.. otherwise 7.95 for a vacation scrapkit seems pretty reasonable for generic stickers and paper and borders... I don't see me doing scrapswaps and I told Sean he better call the local chapter of scrapbookers' anon (j/k) if I start getting like those ladies on "clean sweep" with the office desk dedicated to all that and the office drawers they sell at Costco which used to be called rolling carts or craft carts and now cost an extra $10 and say "scrapbookers cart".. no judging. =) We'll see where I go from here. *fingers crossed* (I already have one little ikea MOPP box drawer that is dedicated to all my 'craft stuff' so I'm probably half there and just don't know it). I just want the plastic containers back so I have something to pack my breakables in when we move..

I prefer double stick tape (Wal-Mart). Instead of stickers and punches, do a Google image search for what you want. Print it on acid free or photo paper, cut out and stick on. I have a die cut machine. However, unless you are going to do a lot of scrapbooking, I wouldn't purchase one. Most scrapbook stores have them and you can use them for free. Purchase the paper you want to use from them, and use their machines. You only need one pair of full size scissors, a small pair for cutting details, and I recommend a 12" Fiskars paper cutter. I've had the little choppers, and find they don't cut as cleanly. I haven't found any scrapping stuff at Disney outlets.

No long term investment, no hassle!!

Yes, you do need a special type of glue, becuase I assume you want your stuff to last, and not turn all yellow. However, acid free glue sticks are quite common these days, Elmer's even makes them. And they aren't that expensive. I have a lot of scrapbooking crap, but all you really need is a paper trimmer, plain cardstock (I buy mine in packs on sale at Michaels or JoAnn's), adhesive of some sort (I do just use the photo stickers), one good pair of scissors and a black pen. If you want to get a little fancier you could get a corner rounder punch. I also use a cutting mat and an Xacto knife a lot. And the cartridge for the Xyron X, for little stickers. You don't need the actual machine, just the cartridge. Put your cutout in between the two pieces and rub it. And I just use good, old fashioned photo corners to put all the Disney papers in my books. The Sizzix, Xyron, eyelets, brads, fibers, punches, etc...I didn't think I needed it until I started doing the swap stuff. So I blame -em

I'm just not crafty and am afraid that any scrapbooking materials I get over my head in would be more waste for me.. so I'm going into this carefully.. I know that if you're really into it or teaching classes it's never a waste. I really appreciate all the answers I'm getting from everyone, and until I ask these things I guess I wouldn't know.. I still have all our WDW honeymoon trip things in a bag from May 2001 so I guess I should do something with all that before I have to throw them out because I kept them far too long. =) The scrapswap images I have seen look so profesional and nice.. I don't see me doing anything that nice but anything better than just gluing our fastpasses directly onto the sheets is definitely an improvement for me. =) thanks again! =) I saw on Costco online they have something you can order a 100 sheet 12x12 with sheet protectors for like $20 bucks which seems like a deal (I'm not to that point yet.. I'm going to do a sample on something first before I go and ruin our 50th memorobilia or buy more stuff yet.. when I need it) and eBay is good idea.. =) I used to shop there all the time.. also disney online has some mickey scrapbooking stuff but they always include a book as far as I can tell. I already have 2.. sigh. oh! and yeah.. outlets: the Belz outlets in Orlando have scrapbooking things for WDW! I got a filler page for Animal Kingdom/ Lion King there.. pretty good. =) As far as DLR um.. not sure either.

They are wonderful for securing maps, irreplacable pictures etc into books so that they can be removed if needed I made the mistake of that years ago and I really regret cutting things I didnt think to be of value... One thing that may be of help is to find a store that has crop classes or free times. For often a nominal fee you get access to their stuff like die cutters/punches etc (cause something things while cute you'll never use again...) As others have said- start small- All you really need is adhesive, few colors of cardstock, scissors and a good pen. Personally I scrap mainly with colors and few accents.I'm more of a simple scrapper than one who spends hours on each page. I love eyelets/brads etc. Stickers/ribbon I dont use much. My new fondness is paint/inks- -em

On top of preserving the original photographs, it allowed me to crop and size things to whatever I wanted.

Then I went to Michaels, spent $10. Then went to Joanns where I spent $25. Good thing there wasn't another store, cause I am sure I would have spent $50!
