Is there anything special happening on July 17 this year for the 60th (other than all of the stuff that is happening all year and other than a huge crowd of people)? I know for the 50th they had special Mickey ear hats and a televised ceremony and cupcakes (or was it cookies?) Do we know what is planned for this year? Please just post a link to the article if it is out there. Thanks!

I would imagine that they'll do some sort of small rededication ceremony like they've done in recent years, but would be very surprised if it was anywhere near the scale of the ceremony for the 50th. 60 just isn't that big of an anniversary and many of the major personalities that were at the 50th (and park opening) have since passed away. There's always a chance they'll figure something out, but it doesn't seem like there are plans for anything big at this point. Plus, the 17th is a Friday (in 2005 it was Sunday), so it's sort of an awkward day to do anything particularly large

It seems like guests recently have been more inclined to show up on the anniversary and just celebrate in their own way, rather than expecting anything super official. The 24-hour Memorial Day party made for a good launch of the 60th event, and didn't have nearly the same level of pushback that the 50th launch had for trying to replace the actual date
