Good riddance. That thing was ugly and dumb. And since it hasn't been the entrance to a parking lot since July, 2009, it serves no purpose now.

I also learned that it was supposed to look like stage curtains pulled back to reveal... the entrance to a parking toll booth plaza? No, seriously, those purple blobby things off to the side were supposed to represent curtains on a stage.

Geez, it's only been barely a decade, but the designs of the late 1990's and early 00's were really stupid. Especially at Disney theme parks when they tried to be artsy and contempo-hip.

Buh-bye purple marquee! I won't miss you. Anyone actually going to miss that thing?

I'm glad that they're finally making it clear that it's no longer a guest entrance to the resort. I wonder if this means that they will finally narrow down that road running behind DCA. Since it no longer serves guest traffic, they could probably reduce it to 2 lanes, freeing up a lot of space along the back of the park for expansion (particularly behind Paradise Pier).

Speaking of that road and parking, what ever happened to parking the daily park guests in the Simba Lot, by the Paradise Pier Hotel? When they shut down Timon for Carsland, they re-striped the Simba lot, and added a new tram loading area (in about the same area where the tram loading had been in DCA's construction/early days). As far as I know, that area was never re-opened for daily park guests.

From the sounds of it, only the auto entrance from Harbor Blvd will be getting rid of the marquee. The pedestrian entrance at the drop-off plaza will keep its sign, which I believe just got another new color scheme. They change the colors on that thing more than some people change clothes!

I don't think they can narrow that road down for park expansion. I did a little work with So Cal Edison regarding this very site, and I think it is all within an electrical easement. They don't want anyone building too close to those high voltage lines that run down the center of this road.

I admit I'm not 100% sure of this, but I'm pretty sure all the same.

We know what we know, and we don't know what we don't know, but sometimes we know what we don't know...wait a minute. What was I saying?
