Here's my question -- Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto are called the "Fab 5," right? So this is 2006, and Stitch is everywhere. Do you think his inclusion with the "Fab 5" so much is a shot at making him part of a "Fab 06?"

    Just a thought.

    PS. I like Stitch.

Time for Stitch to go back into the vault.

I think because of the cartoon series he must sell fairly well with younger kids -- and I am all for pushing something other than the Princess's and all that merchandise -- but there has to be a boundary.

    just IMHO

My main question had to do with the association of the "06" for "2006" and his inclusion with the "Fab 5." Besides selling Stitch merchandise, I was wondering if there's an attempt afoot to make the "Fab 5" into a "Fab 6," and "2006" is a clever way to do it?

My personal take on it -- Probably not. I think they're just using "06" as a way for Stitch to self-impose himself on the Fab 5 for a year.

Did the article say how is this known? Was Jim Hill made aware of some real sales stats, or was it some CM's personal observation out on the sales floor?

My observation is that Stitch really is popular -- at least with some age groups.

But I've also observed that they're not punching up "Great Escape" so much anymore.

well here's the problem with that -- it's not '06 -- it was all of '05 also -- special series of pins with stitch at every park in front of every attraction - and even did pins with Stitch at DL attractions also ( so more than to puch the ride at MK ), then the Stitch toilet papering of the castle -- and the scene in DD with the wrecked van and police tape that supposedly Stitch took and crashed --- it's like a force feeding of Stitch and quite frankly, I've had enough, he's not THAT popular. he's a nice character....that's all

I have a feeling you might not be in the "Stitch demographic."

I've been on the ride with probably about 20 different people since it opened and not one of them has liked it. Not to mention, last Saturday while Space was posted at 45 minutes, Speedway at 60 minutes, Buzz at 80 minutes (!!), Stitch was posted at 5, and the theater was only 2/3 full.

I guess for which I am greatful -- but then who is ?

I have an 11 year old, a 21 year old, and my wife and I - and while we all agree he was a nice character in a better than expected movie, not one of us see him as a long term icon.

Stitch is fine, be he shouldn't be on everything, especially at the expense of other characters that other folks love but can't find on any souvenirs.
