And just for the heck of it, here's the lineup:

Disney's Greatest Villains
May 15, 1977
Hosted by Hans Conried as the Magic Mirror

-Captain Hook: Skull Rock sequence

-The Evil Queen: Poisoned Apple sequence

-Madam Mim: Wizards' Duel; (middle of duel is clipped; this would be the part where Merlin and Mim are caterpillar/hen, walrus/hen, walrus/elephant, mouse/elephant, mouse/tiger)

-Maleficent: Phillip/Dragon sequence; The Mirror remarks how poor Malef is outnumber FOUR to ONE.

-Tremaine/Cruella/Hearts: Brief medley with Tremaine's first appearance, Cruella tossing whiskey bottle in fire and Queen of Hearts muttering her usual.

-Medusa: This was meat of the show, since The Rescuers was about a month away from their debut, and the sequences are not in order. Penny gets captured by Nero and Brutus, Medusa forces Penny in the cave, and then Medusa shoots at Bernard and Bianca. This leads to the Mirror getting "shot" and leaving to make some minor repairs, ie commercial break.

-Edgar: Poor Edgar, it's nice to see him get recognized every now and then. Anyway, Edgar attempts to ditch the Aristocats are thwarted by Napoleon and Lafayette.

-Willie the Giant: Obligatory Mickey Mouse appearance, but another forgotten baddie gets to shine; Sequence from Mickey and the Beanstalk.

-Kaa and Shere Khan: Kaa gets the only song of the film and has a confrontation with Shere Khan before Mowgli comes to his senses.

-The Evil Queen (#10)
-Stromboli
-Man (#20)
-The Headless Horseman (1999 version)
-Lady Tremaine
-Captain Hook (1924 version)
-Maleficent
-Cruella De Vil (#39)
-Ursula
-Frollo (1939 version)

Nominated Heroes
-Belle
-Buzz Lightyear
-Peter Pan
-Mary Poppins
-Robin Hood (1938 version)
-Tarzan (1932 version)

Other characters in the list were 'live-action' characters like Long John Silver. Technically, the nominated characters with another version next to them refer to their live-action counterparts, but their animated versions were shown in the special (and mentioned on the list as well).

Snow White's wicked Queen is also pretty evil. I mean, to kill your own step daughter because she's better looking than you. Wow!

Scar was pretty awesome as a villian as well. He kills his own brother to be king, and even lets his nephew, who's still a child to be eaten by Hyenas. At least he thinks he gets eaten.

Looking at the other villians, they are evil, but not quite as evil as the those willing to KILL their enemy's for simple reasons, or just having a very sinister torture plot.

Actually that's just her vision. The Three Good Fairies break him out the same night he's imprisoned.

But you're right, Maleficent totally rocks man...best villainess there is.

In fact, that was the answer/question to a MAD Magazine version of Jeopardy!:

I was thinking about this last night (as a direct result of my incredibly exciting life). Although Maleficent is my favourite villain, I would have to think Scar is the coldest - to kill your own brother, blame your nephew for his death and then try to kill your nephew as well? That's some pretty hard-core villainy! And not once did he feel any kind of remorse or hesitation. Plus Jeremy Irons is just awesome!

And yes, there were four Golden Girls... read posts 7 & 8. When I was used three of them to describe the The Three Good Busybodies who help Prince Girly-Man, er, Phillip, TALLDisneyGuy had his own idea of which three he would have cast. :)

In the meantime, I'm categorizing my Collection of Evilâ„¢ into a list, which I will be emailing to random LPers whether they like it or not. I'll probably send it out after the holidays in the case that I (doubtfully) get anything evil.

I'd love to see him return to Disney for another project.

When I was little, I found the Medusa segments on DGV to be very strong, with Medusa screaming at little Medusa. She was more terrifying than the Queen of Hearts and, at the time, Maleficent and the Evil Queen. It's nice to see that Medusa is getting some merchandise coverage, but still hasn't been in anything "major" like the Villains posters.

I should rent Pete's Dragon one of these days; it's one of those Disney films that I have never watched all the way through.

Of course, when my Ultimate Disney Villains CD is produced by Walt Disney Records sometime in the 21st century, you can be sure that "The Happiest Home in These Hills" will be on it. :)

And in my response to post #12, I did get something evil. A certain Wolf-loving vegetarian LPer, whose identity will remain hidden, sent me the Disney Villain version of "The World's Most Difficult Puzzle". Problem is that I bought it *last* year. I also bought him the "Your Host Walt Disney" DVD, which he also bought recently. This past week, we have been deciding on how to remedy the situation, lol.

Here's what the puzzle looks like:

http://www.buffalogames.com/HT
ML%20pages/DISNEY_WMD.html

The 17 Villains include Pete, The Big Bad Wolf, The Evil Queen, The Queen of Hearts, The Cheshire Cat, Captain Hook, Tic-Toc, Si & Am, Maleficent, Dragon Maleficent, Cruella De Vil, Kaa, Edgar, Ursula, Jafar, Scar and Hades.

The Cheshire Cat a villain? A bit maddening perhaps, but hardly evil I'd say.

I can't buy the Cheshire Cat as a Villain, but Disney insists in putting him in a majority of their Villain merchandise, such as the Villains puzzle, the 1998 Villains family poster/mug/screensaver/t-shirt, selling his plush in the Villain stores.

The other one I nitpick on is Tic-Toc the Crocodile being a Villain. See, he's considered a Villain only in the eyes of Captain Hook, according to F&O's Villain book. He, too, is featured in many Villain merchandise such as "Mickey's House of Villains".
