I've been meaning to upgrade. Cons: I have to redo my kitchen and roof so I'm not sure it should be a priority even though I could afford it. But I'd have to cut corners on the others. I have a tv that still works pretty well right now. Of course it would cost more money to upgrade to a HI Def Direct TV box. Plus I'd want to buy a PS3 for the Blue Ray player and some games.

Unless my wife's incessant whining about not having one gets to me first...

You won't get ESPN or HBO in Hi Def of course, but you will most likely have ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, and perhaps a few others. The Hi Def over-the-air pictures are significantly better than Direct TV's Hi Def service because they have more bandwidth to play with. The only exception would be if you're in the mountains or otherwise way out in the boonies, and get your TV signals from relay translators. Many of these haven't gone digital yet, and they don't have to by next February either. All that being said, a Hi Def TV is worthless if the roof caves in on it.

My DW loves watching Reno shows and always I commented on how everyone gets a HDTV in the living rooms. She nagged me to redo our living room like those on the shows and one day we were strolling in Home Depot and they had a 42" HDTV for sale at a bargain. Well DW insisted that we buy it and I had to let her have her way. It cost me a new paint job in the room but that was cheap. So be creative and get her watching those shows and good luck! I love my HD

Also, this is to anyone else that wants to do their kitchen and is in the so cal region and is planning on buying pre-fab cabinets (also known as Semi-custom). Also, bathroom stuff too. Basically, I am trying to get as many employee assisted orders as I can because well, the company for some reason loves that stuff. It has received excellent reviews and is currently $1500. There are others out there as well. But everything depends on the budget.

Nuut I'm in Milwaukee. I'm just going to put in a new floor, new countertop and then reface the cabinets and put in new handles. Plus my uncle works at Home Depot so I'll be getting a discount for that. But thanks anyway. Pete-Probably anywhere from 1000 to 1500 is what I'm willing to spend. I'll keep searching.
