Typically, they serve lunch on-board while everyone is going through the boarding process. Everyone MUST be onboard at least one hour prior to departure time. Check your travel documents for your particular cruise line's requirements. When we went on our Disney Cruise, we didn't use the hotel Disney uses - way overpriced. So we took our hotel's shuttle from the airport and the next day, they took us back to the airport where we caught the Disney Cruise Line bus. You could check the port and see if they have car rental agencies. If so, I'd pick up a car at LAX and drop off at the port.
