In the past, I have had problems with a new AP working in the fastpass machines but since I've had a PAP I wasn't sure how a blackout AP would work for parkhopping. Now that I think about it, would she be charged the extra $30 for the blackout? They were hoping to use the AP discount at Rancho and Plaza. Should they wait to upgrade on Sunday? Thanks for any info, she asked if I'd double check with my LP friends

She wouldn't need to pay the $30 blockout fee. Or she can buy a ParkHopper and upgrade, the cost is the same. Now, the one drawback, the turnstile computer system will say she is blocked out, but all she needs to say is that she got the AP that day, and the CM should override the system (they can check the date on the AP). Her boyfriend could upgrade to a SoCal Select AP for just a few dollars more on Sunday, if he has the right zip code.... Then if he wants to come back, can always upgrade to a higher priced AP on the next visit, to match the blockout dates on the second trip.

Originally Posted By Darkbeer OK, here is the FP issue, when you get your AP upgraded at the Bank of Main Street, you are issued a new "barcode" (aka ticket number), and since that new Barcode has not been scanned at the gate, it won't work in the FP machines. The best solution is to just exit the park and re-enter the park to get the new barcode scanned into the system. With the "e-ticket", your printout is scanned and then the CM will trade you (keeping the printout) and hand you a standard size Disneyland ticket printed as an AP voucher. This ticket should work in the FP machines right away. Then when you go to the Bank of Main Street, you might get the same barcode, or a new barcode (ticket number). So you might need to exit and re-enter.

A really nice CM at the Splash fastpass machines could see what the problem was and he gave me a one day "paper" pass to use in the fastpass machines that day.

For me and DD.

I'll report back

No problem with the fastpass machines and no blockout fee Sorry xPPx that you paid extra money She said the only wierd thing was at DCA the ticket machine made a weird noise and everyone looked at them. The CM didn't bat an eye and took care of it Thanks again Darkbeer for all your information! They are having a fantastic time and are showing a couple of DLR newbies the ropes "We got in line for breakfast while the guys went to get Splash fastpasses, after breakfast we went to the Island because we wanted to check it out. Now we are going to Star Tours but first we'll get our Space Mountain fastpasses........." She is becoming a mini me

LOL Otherwise, I'll take care of it in October when I go.
